Customer Lowered
Electricity Price

  • Using only non-subsidized, normal market forces, CLEP is a unique, smart and voluntary way to lower the price of electricity for all customers while simultaneously increasing utility profits.
  • By making strategically timed use of common dishwashers and other appliances, more efficient water heaters, community solar power, or whole home batteries CLEP enables utility companies and customers to save serious money while producing much less CO2.
  • CLEP rapidly incentivizes deep investment in energy storage, energy efficiency and renewable energy, essentially revolutionizing how we buy and sell electricity while decreasing support for fossil fuels.
  1. With CLEP, utility companies pay customers for purchasing electricity when wholesale prices are low.
  2. Under CLEP, utility companies also save by purchasing electricity from customers when wholesale prices are high.
  3. At the same time, the utility company also greatly rewards customers for avoiding demand when delivery costs are highest.
  • CLEP enables utility companies to positively incorporate rapidly improving appliance technology and the diminishing costs of renewable energy while maintaining customers and increasing market share.
  • Utility Regulators, Commercial Customers with very high demand charges, Building Designers and Appliance/Equipment Manufacturers, and residential customers all benefit significantly in this win/win/win/win relationship provided by Customer Lowered Electricity Price.  On February 1, 2019, this testimony was filed in the Entergy New Orleans Rate Case.

  • "Revolutionizing how we buy and sell electricity to rapidly incentivize and fully finance deep investments in energy storage, energy efficiency, and renewable energy" is the central theme of this 10-minute pitch on CLEP.
